Erzurum Atatürk Museum; is situated in Caykara Avenue, Caykara Street. It's been constructed as a mansion by a rich man from Erzurum at late XIX. C. The building was used as German Consulate for 9 months between 1915/16, and on 12.03.1918, following the salvation of Erzurum was transferred to the Office of Governor of Erzurum as a residence. The Governor Mahir Akkaya lived there until 03.07.1919 and the mansion has been emptied when he left Erzurum.
The mansion gained a historic importance thanks to Mustafa Kemal Pasha's, when he came to Erzurum to hold a congress following his arrival in Samsun, residing in the mansion together with Huseyin Rauf and with his friends on 09.07.1919, and to their conducting the studies for congress for 52 days until 29.08.1919. When Gazi Mustafa Kemal Pasha left Erzurum, the mansion began to be used as the governor's residence again.
The golden key made by a jeweler from Erzurum upon the order of the Mayor Nazif Bey and the title deed of the mansion have been presented to Mustafa Kemal Pasha during his visit to Erzurum on 13.09.1924 after the proclamation of the Republic.
The mansion given to the residence of Erzurum army corps commanders between 1930/1934, has been inherited to Mrs. Makbule Boysan, sister of Atatürk, upon the death of Atatürk and, according to the information obtained from the title deed records, it was transferred upon her will to the Society for the Protection of Children on October 12 1944 after her death. The building that has been used by the Society until 1980, was transferred to the Ministry of Culture by the Ministry of Health on May 8 1984.
The building consisting of the basement, ground floor and a roof floor has been repaired, and it was opened to visit as Atatürk Museum on 3.10.1984.
Ground Floor
After the stone arched, double winged entrance, the goods, documents and photographs belonging to Kazým Karabekir and Kazým Yurdalan are exhibited on the right side and from this room, the room where the clothes, guns, photographs and documents belonging to Raif Dinç, who was a member of Erzurum Müdafai Hukuki Milliye Association and Erzurum Congress, is entered into via a door.
First Floor
On the I. floor at the landing, the big photograph taken during the second visit of Atatürk to Erzurum and the armchairs and coffee tables of that period are placed. The entrance after the landing leads to the hall where the photographs and biographies of Erzurum Congress members are exhibited, and to the reception room and to the bedroom
July XXIII. Congress Hall
It's situated in the Congress Square named after it. It's constructed at late XIX. C.
July XXIII. Congress Hall (Atatürk Construction Professional High School) building is serving as Fine Arts High School. July XXIII. Erzurum Congress was held in a hall on the first floor of this building serving as the High School then. All the wooden parts of the building were burnt in the fire in 1925. The building, which has been repaired after the fire has been opened to service as Construction Art School. A hall in the second floor of the building and two rooms opening to the hall have been arranged as Congress Museum. With Erzurum Congress held under the chairmanship of Atatürk, the foundations of the Republic have been laid in this building and the route to the Turkish Grand National Assembly has been drawn with this congress. Therefore, this building has a very important place in our Republic history.
In the Hall, which's a special museum under the Ministry of National Education, the photographs, biographies of the congress members, and the desks used during that period and the congress documents are exhibited.
The plan of the building is in U shape and it's a basement and 2 floors. When the main entrance of the building is taken as basis, there is a symmetry both in the plan and in the front. There're 2 more entrances except the main entrance. In the 1. floor just across the stairs, the representative hall of Erzurum Congress is located. Entering the hall, Atatürk's sculpture, chairs in four rows and a map on the wall showing from which provinces the delegates attended the congress meet us. There're small rooms on both sides of the hall and these are furnished with the furniture used then.
