Aphrodisias Ancient City in Aydin City, Karacasu District.
Opened to visitors in 1979, the Aphrodisias Archeology Museum is near the ancient city of Aphrodisias and only the pieces taken out from the excavations in Aphrodisias are exhibited. By the end of the year 1997, the registered objects at the museum were 12.697 pieces.
Prehistoric artifacts dating back to 5000 B.C and the Bronze Age found in excavations on the Acropolis hill and Pekmeztepe hill, Lydia ceramics found in these hills and Archaic, Classic and Hellenistic Period objects found in the ruins of the Temple of Aphrodite are all exhibited in the museum. Tombs and statues made by the sculpture school of the time and the cult statue of Aphrodisias Aphrodite can be seen at the museum as well.
The halls of the Aphrodisias Museum are The Imperial Hall, corridor of Zoilos, hall of Melpomene, Odeon hall, display cases gallery, hall of Penthesilea, hall of Aphrodite and courtyard.
